When founded
The agency was originally incorporated in 1966 as the Mesa County Community Centered Board (CCB) for children with special needs. Since 2013, the organization has been known as STRiVE and is made of two branches: Mesa Developmental Services (MDS) – still currently the area’s CCB, and the entry point into the long-term service and support system for persons with developmental disabilities and STRiVE – a program-approved provider agency.
What services do you offer/Needs that you meet for your clients?
STRiVE provides a full spectrum of services and supports for adults with developmental disabilities, families raising a child with a disability, and infants and toddlers who have been identified as developmentally delayed or at risk for developmental disabilities. Most services are customized to the need of the individuals via a wide range of programs.
What are the ways businesses or individuals can partner with you throughout 2023?
Businesses and individuals can partner with STRiVE in a myriad of ways, and all are equally important and valued! We utilize community groups and individual volunteers to provide intermittent support throughout the year on specific projects and events, such as Harvest Illuminated, Tulips and Juleps and our Summer Concert Series. A more formal volunteer program has recently been implemented for those community members wanting to engage directly with clients. Sponsorship opportunities exist for all of our fundraising events and are a vital component in helping us bring these attractions to fruition. Donations are always appreciated and can be made at strivecolorado.org.
What would you say is the spirit animal of the company?
I’m not sure we’ve thought much about spirit animals, but we would choose the tortoise, which symbolizes longevity, endurance, and being grounded. You can also view our spirit animal, Knobby the Tortoise, at the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens – a STRiVE operated program site.
Best part of being part of our community?
We are continually humbled by the generosity of our community. Our steadfast community partners and their unwavering commitment to this organization is unprecedented and allows us the unique privilege of continuing with our mission: “We support people who strive to meet their full potential.”
